Nathan James Sykes
Nathan James Sykes was born in Gloucester on the 18th of April 1993. He has one sister named Jessica. His mom and dad split up when he was young so he was always in both their houses. His mom was a jazz teacher and his dad played guitar so he has had music around him all his life. He likes adding his own twist to the songs he sings and his favourite band is Boyz II Men. He learned to play piano when he was only young and his sister plays too. Some of his uncles play guitar and piano as well.  When he was six he went into a singing competition and he sang " A Deeper Shade of Blue" by Steps and he won. He entered a lot of singing competitions and did really well in them. He entered one particular competition and the prize was to sing in the Old Traford Stadium and he did. There were lots of celebrities in the audience and that must have been a great experience for a kid when they were only young. He went on a T.V show called Britney Spears Karaoke Kriminals and he won it and he got to met Britney Spears and she  gave him a kiss. He also won a skirt she had won in a music video.
 
He was supposed to go to a secondary school in Gloucester where he lived, but one day he saw an advertisment in a newspaer for a scholarship to Sylvia Young's Musical arts and Drama school. He went and did the audition and he got a Scholarship. He was extatic when he got the call to tell him that he had got the chance to be in the school. When he was in that school he loved it very much. He did singing and dancing, but eventually he quit dancing because he was just awful. He did however excell in his singing. One year his teacher brought all the lads in his year into the hall and she told them that they were all going to an audition for a band. :)

Nathan and a few other lads from his year got in. Nathan is the baby of the band because he is only 18 which makes him two years younger than Jay and four years younger than Tom, Max and Siva. So it must have been quite daunting for him to do all these auditions around other big guys when he was only seventeen. In the end he did get in anyway and now he is a very much loved member of The Wanted <3.
